Legal Forms

Divorce forms

The Tennessee Supreme Court has approved two sets of divorce forms.

  • Couples who do not have any minor children, and
  • Couples who do have minor children together.

You and your spouse must agree on all the terms of the divorce or you can’t use the forms.

Only use these forms if:

  • Neither you nor your spouse own land (real property);
  • Neither you nor your spouse has a retirement account except for social security;
  • Neither you nor your spouse owns a business.

Civil Court Forms

The Tennessee Supreme Court has approved some general sessions court forms as "universally acceptable as legally sufficient". This means that if the forms are filled out correctly that all Tennessee general sessions courts with civil jurisdiction must accept the forms.

An Order of Protection is a court order signed by a judge.   The Order can help protect you from:

  • Abuse,
  • Threats of abuse or sexual assault, and
  • Stalking.

The Order of Protection allows the police or law enforcement to arrest the abuser without a warrant.

You can get an Order of Protection if you are hit or threatened by:

  • Your past or present husband or wife,
  • Your child’s other parent,
  • Someone you have lived with,
  • Someone you are related to by blood, marriage or adoption,
  • Someone you have dated or had sex with,
  • Someone who stalked you, or
  • Someone who raped or threatened to rape you.

To get an Order of Protection, you must file court forms at the court clerk’s office in the county where the abuse happened or where the abuser lives.
