Local judges will participate in the decorating of Legal Aid of East Tennessee’s Pro Bono Christmas Tree on Monday. The event will take place at noon on the first floor of the Hamilton County Courthouse, 625 Georgia Ave.
Hamilton County judges from Circuit and Chancery court will decorate the tree, which will feature
handmade cards containing a description of a Legal Aid case in need of a volunteer attorney.
Attorneys who come and go from the courthouse are encouraged to visit the tree throughout the holiday season and select a case for representation.
The Pro Bono Christmas Tree is an initiative of Legal Aid of East Tennessee’s Pro Bono Project. The Pro Bono Project works with volunteer attorneys, law firms, bar associations, judges and community partners to provide pro bono legal services to our neighbors who are most disadvantaged. Since 2010, volunteer attorneys have donated their time on more than 10,000 cases for low-income East Tennesseans, officials said.
