TN Faith & Justice Alliance

The Tennessee Faith & Justice Alliance (TFJA)

The Tennessee Faith and Justice Alliance ("TFJA") is a project of the Access to Justice Commission. It is an alliance of legal professionals, faith leaders, and community partners who commit to providing legal resources, information, and support to their communities. We know that many Tennesseans will seek help from their faith community in a time of crises, and this alliance seeks to meet people there with the support and resources that they need. The TFJA has developed numerous resources for faith leaders looking to build faith and justice partnerships in their communities. See a flyer to share with those interested in our work here.

Malpractice Insurance and CLE Credit

The TFJA provides malpractice insurance to attorneys participating in TFJA clinics who would otherwise not be covered for while providing advice at a clinic. The TFJA can also ensure that volunteer attorneys participating in the clinic receive CLE credit for their efforts.

Clinic in a Box Forms

The ATJ Commission has developed materials for those interested in launching a pro bono civil legal advice clinic.  The Pro Bono Clinic in a Box kit contains all of the forms and information needed to start and maintain a clinic.  ATJ Commission staff and members of ATJ Commission Advisory Committees are also available to help those who want to launch a clinic to serve their religious organization or community.  The Pro Bono Clinic in a Box kit is available here.

Legal Resource Manuals

The Tennessee Faith and Justice Alliance has put together legal resource manuals for each grand division. The manuals include information about organizations that provide legal help locally.

Referral Model

The ATJ Commission staff also developed an Implementation Manual for those interested in adopting the Referral Model.  The Implementation Manual has samples of training materials, information on applicable court rules, and forms needed to successfully adopt the Referral Model.  ATJ Commission staff and members of the ATJ Commission Faith-Based Initiatives Advisory Committee are available to help religious organizations implement the Referral Model.  The Implementation Manual is available here.
