The TN Justice Bus: Exciting Updates
The TN Justice Bus has been making significant strides over the past few months by expanding our reach and enhancing access to justice across the state. We have established new partnerships, advanced our digital processes, and continued serve those in our community and provide legal assistance to those who have been justice impacted.
Digital Innovations & Volunteer Engagement
In a move towards greater efficiency the Tennessee Justice Bus has released a virtual model for volunteer attorneys. This is designed to adapt to modern work habits and increase accessibility for legal professionals who may not be able to commit to physically being on the bus due to time constraints or geographical challenges. With this recent advancement, attorneys can participate in legal consultations and community outreach sessions from their home or office. By leveraging technology, the TN Justice Bus hopes to engage a broader pool of attorneys so that access to legal advice is more widely available to those in underserved communities. We hope to not only address the current need to bridge the gap but also pave the way for a more effective and inclusive legal aid model for the future.
The TN Justice Bus encourages current attorneys and law students to give back to their community through pro bono work. Our Pro Bono Attorney Coordinator and the Lead Attorney of Indigent Services at the Administrative Office of the Courts recently presented at the Duncan School of Law. The presentation emphasized why pro bono work matters and how individuals can volunteer their time, either through the Justice Bus or other organizations.

Community Engagements & Partnerships
The TN Justice Bus has formed a valuable partnership with the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency in Cumberland County, facilitating a general legal advice clinic during the agency’s commodity distribution day. This collaboration enabled the TN Justice Bus to effectively reach individuals facing legal challenges who may otherwise struggle to obtain necessary legal assistance. This event generated over 250 locals and highlights the importance of community partnerships in order to enhance the access to justice for our rural communities.
The TN Justice Bus has also established a partnership with People Loving Nashville out of Davidson County. With this being one of Tennessee’s most populated counties we strive to participate in a variety of community outreach events and partner with facilitating organizations. This organization holds community events every Monday in downtown Nashville, providing access to laundry services, medical care for both people and pets, personal care support, & now legal assistance. The TN Justice Bus has coordinated with People Loving Nashville to come once a month to provide legal services to those needing help and guidance on their legal matter. Their community event draws near to 350 individuals to receive care from a variety of vendors and volunteering organizations.
In an effort to broaden our reach, we have developed partnerships in Cannon, Fentress, Pickett, Sumner, Van Buren, Henry, Cumberland, Jefferson, Warren, Macon & Clay Counties. Joining forces with organizations such as Mental Health Consumer Association, Trinity Breaking the Cycle Program, WestCare TN & Adams Memorial Library, only to name a few. Collaborations like these are vital in extending our services and building community resilience.
